Medallions of Recognition
Medallions of Recognition are pins attached via a ribbon to a backing cushion in the shadow-box frame with a slide open lid. Titles are etched onto the glass and signed by the artist.

The frame can hang on the wall like a picture, stood up like a book, or placed face up on a coffee table.

The medallion can be removed from the frame and worn on a garment, belt, hat, etc. It can also be hung from a ribbon or chain as a necklace.

The Medallions were inspired by military medals but my designs depict the recognition of various attitudes, concepts, and topics for thoughts and actions.

This medallion was the prototype for the Medallions of Recognition. I made it as a gift for a man who had worked on my previous website a few years ago. Now I am building a new one myself with Weebly. I appreciate his work more than ever.

Close up - The abstract hexagonal component with honey comb texture and circular opening was made with Copper Metal Clay. The Bee bead is thermal sensitive and changes colour from copper to bright orange, neon yellow and green, turquoise, blue, and purple depending on ambient temperature.

Close up - The wire work represents the busy spirals of bee flight. A copper bee bead made of Copper Metal Clay sits on top. Behind the back plate of copper sheet is the pin for attaching to a garment, belt, hat, etc.
