2008 was a very eventful year (scroll down for 2009 Events) at Campdeerheart, the location of Deerheart Studios:

2008 Recap

In April we held special screenings of The Moses Code movie.

May through August we welcomed the public to drop in or plan a picnic at Deerheart Studios May through August. The property has a park like landscape with a short walking trail, benches, and picnic tables. We are about 15 minutes from downtown Duncan and Cowichan Lake Road (the old road) is a scenic drive to Lake Cowichan and the west coast.

In July we opened the studios to the public for 10 days as a venue for Visions Art Studio Tour with two guest artists, Rosemary Danaher, potter and painter, and Elaine Kerr, paper artist, art dolls and creative collage maker. During the tour, three 2-hour workshops were offered:
  • Carving, taught by Rene
  • Art Dolls, taught by Elaine
  • Precious Metal Clay Beads, taught by Rene

In August we began the rebuilding of the main residence. A big excavator did the demolition in a few hours. Work is progressing on target.

In October a new family member arrived. Here is Bhutan, Temple Guard at his centaury. He is Llasa Apso and Shih Tzu.

In November the house was at lock up and the wiring and plumbing are being installed. By next spring Campdeerheart will have a new look yet retain the charm and inspiration it has always had.

Several incorporate faux art cabochons of polymer clay that mimic amber, tourquoise, ivory, etc. Rene also makes pendants and charms with embellished glass vials and miniature containers. Some pieces have one-of-a-kind carved amulets of exotic hard woods. Personalized charms may be ordered.
